About Ready Keiki
Ready Keiki is the state’s multi-faceted plan to ensure all Hawaiʻi children are ready for kindergarten—supporting their future success and promoting economic stability for local families. Launched in January 2023, the initiative is led by Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke.
By 2032, Ready Keiki aims to provide preschool access for all Hawaiʻi 3- and 4-year-olds.
This initiative builds on decades of groundwork by state leaders and early learning and child care champions to create more accessible preschool, set our keiki up for success, and impact the state for future generations.
Preschool in Hawai'i By the Numbers
“The Ready Keiki classroom goal is based on the Department of Health's total 3- and 4-year-old population data.
Changes in birth rates, out-migration, and the addition of new pre-K seats have led to year-to-year adjustments to our classroom goal.”
